Be guided by Humberto Tan to Kabalebo
Only reachable by an hour-long private flight from Paramaribo, this rugged yet luxurious nature resort is the perfect place to get in touch with nature.
Where to stay
KABALEBO NATURE RESORT
Stay in one of the many signature lodges and wake up to the sound of singing tropical birds, or watch the monkeys swinging between the trees. The perfect starting point for a trip to the Amazon too, with many different activities based around the natural riches of the rainforest.
What to do
KORJAAL TOUR
Be guided by an experienced local and explore Kabalebo from a Korjaal: a sort of canoe. For Humberto, this was the perfect way to picture the raw wilderness of the Amazon. Discover this paradise in a pure yet comfortable way, with good food and picturesque place of shelter in the midst of nature.

BIRD SPOTTING
All around Kabalebo you’ll find the most beautiful birds, making themselves known with their signature calls and flying around unobstructed in their national element. The Kabalebo Natural Resort organizes special tours, but even walking around the grounds you’ll already see some beautiful parrots.

HIKE TO MISTY MOUNTAIN
Although only 500 meters high, this mythical mountain is always covered in mist and an air of mystery. Climb up past its waterfalls and through its lush jungles for incredible views, while encountering monkeys, tapirs and a slice of real jungle along the way.
A magical trip to Fredberg
When Fred Pansa flew over the dense forest in a small airplane, he saw a mountain he did not recognize or know about. He set out on a mission to find it, and soon it was named Fredberg. Here, Fred has built a paradise for nature and adventure lovers. Humberto Tan visited the mountain resort together with champion bird spotter Arjan Dwarshuis and found a magical place for bird spotting and taking photographs, complemented by great hospitality and delicious Surinamese home-cooked food.
ANIMAL PHOTOGRAPHY & BIRD SPOTTING
Virtually untouched by humans, this is the jungle at its wildest and most serene.
