Nußbaumerin | Berlin | Tip by Bearleader in Hospitality Roberto Payer

Discover the best restaurants and bars in Berlin. This beautiful city offers cuisine as varied as its urban landscape.

Paulien Wesselink and Roberto Payer travel often for work to Berlin. They share their favourite spots in this food & drink guide with an international feel. From all-day breakfast Sydney style to dim sum in a hip dimly lit restaurant.

Where to eat and go for a drink

  • NUßBAUMERIN

A slice of Austria in the middle of Berlin. Imagine yourself on a skiing holiday with some of the most delicious Kaischerschmarren (chopped pancakes) and Wiener Schnitzels you could ask for.

  • ABC ALLAN’S

Super nice brunch spot, especially in the summer, when you can sit outside on the broad sidewalks, where Prenzlauer berg is know for. They offer a great boozy brunch, it’s definitely a Sydney style place!

  • ANNELIES

Very nice neighbourhood cafe located in the heart of Kreuzberg. . Go here for breakfast, coffee or brunch on the weekends, it’s cozy and they have a cute terrace. They serve all day breakfast and lunch. My tip is to definitely order the pancakes.

  • LONG MARCH CANTEEN

Lovely dim sums and other asian dishes. A modern interpretation of Cantonese. Friendly staff and the outside seating is great! Inside it is like diving into Asian nightlife, with dim, colourful lighting, steam coming from the kitchen and a buzzing atmosphere. Very much a place to be.

  • PAOLO PINKEL

Great restaurant for dinner and a night out in Neukölln. The place has a fusion concept between Korean, Cypriot and Sicilian food. So something for everyone. The place is cozy and bustling with a nice crowd. After dinner, you can move to the bar/dance area for cocktails and a party vibe.

  • ROAMERS

An old time favourite breakfast/lunch spot of the O My Bag team, when we’re in Berlin for the fair. We usually treat ourselves to Roamers on the last morning of the trip, early morning before we leave town and drive back home. It’s in Neukölln, it’s tiny, cozy and very Berlin. The plates are delicious and I love the presentation as well. It has become very poplar over the last years, so it’s good to come early. The owners have managed to maintain a great level of quality with the food, even when it’s busy.

  • MAISON UMAMI

You’ve got to love Berlin for its abundance of great Vietnamese places. Umami is one of those gems. They have big terrace, it’s very affordable and the atmosphere is amazing.
